The explosion in drug trafficking, trade through the Panama Canal, the effects of climate change, as well as the ambitions of new players such as China and Saudi Arabia, are redrawing the geopolitical interest of the Caribbean region. France is present in the region with a wide range of instruments. Better integration into the region and its cooperation bodies would enable France to leverage its assets in a region of growing strategic interest.
