We connect “sociological” research conducted by Italian operaismo in the 1950s-1970s and the genealogy of Michel Foucault, analyzing some themes concerning the contemporary political period. In particular, we consider the concepts of city-factory, needs, and disciplinary society, stressing some possible development of research and criticizing some positions issued in politology, especially in Italy.
