Presidential discourse in the French National Archives: The urgency of posterity. On the 2012-2013 promotion of the Master 2 in Political communication and public institutions (CELSA) - 2013.

The old one was said to be in a hurry, and the current one appears hesitant. France's head of state seems to be described according to his political pace and the media landscape. This article proposes to sketch a different portrait of the presidents of the Fifth Republic: a portrait of the eternal fame that can be granted by history. The documents kept at the French National Archives, particularly the manuscripts of public speeches, are important artifacts of the way in which words and the staged presidential persona—both public and private—is remembered. Handwritten drafts are not dull static reproductions of crossed-out thoughts, but dynamic materials that far surpass their status as historical documents.
