In the academic year 2018-2019, almost three-quarters of pupils benefited from at least one artistic or cultural education project or initiative, 80% in primary education and 59% in secondary education. This proportion remains stable in comparison with the previous year. The differences between the projects and initiatives available are partly correlated to the characteristics of the various educational establishments, e.g. the number of pupils, their social class and the presence or absence of an arts and culture education coordinator or teaching supervisor. In addition to artistic and cultural education projects and initiatives, the majority of primary and secondary schools organise at least one related activity (e.g. cultural visits, meeting artists, clubs etc.). Over 80% of primary schools and 90% of secondary schools have a partnership with at least one artistic or cultural organisation or body.Unlike primary schools, secondary schools see an overrepresentation of girls in certain areas such as dance, theatre or choral clubs. In the academic year 2018-2019, 63% of primary schools and 92% of secondary schools offered choral activities, an increase on the previous year by 7 and 8 percentage points respectively. Finally, in primary schools, arts and culture education projects tend to be strongly dominated by music, singing and visual arts, whilst the offering in secondary schools is far more diverse.
