Breaking with the strategic model, Murray Bowen, by introducing the use of the genogram, reestablished the importance of history and narrative in family care. The model proposed in this article is a conversational version of the genogram. This model is centered on the issue that prompts a family to seek professional assistance, taking into account the solutions passed down from generation to generation—solutions that may have become inappropriate in a changed context. The dynamic genogram aims to restore each generation’s sense of responsibility, to acknowledge its efforts, and provide greater freedom for each generation.
