This article aims to promote a broader use of intervention research. Our literature review highlights the triple utility of intervention research (academic, social, and managerial) and develops the strategic step of specification within such an approach. We will then illustrate our study by exploring the specification phase, using data from an intervention research project initiated with three practitioners from three different organizations. The results of this exploration will be discussed in light of the works referenced in our literature review to address the research question.
