The author examines the word “intimacy” and its polysemy in the area of the psychic life. She clarifies its relationships with the primal, unconscious, somatic and sexual life by the light of what is done and shared in the course of the family life and of the psychoanalytic family therapy. Whatever the destiny of intimacy is (kept secret, unveiled or broken in), its handling will be a faithful reflection of the psychic functioning of the family group.
