The general movement assessment is a functional evaluation of the brain that enables the early mapping of an infant’s developmental trajectory, before the emergence of intentional motor skills. It is based on a qualitative analysis of the complexity, variability, and fluidity of the infant’s most representative movement sequences. This assessment allows for early and individualized intervention for both the infant and their parents, in order to support the development of the richest possible motor repertoire.
