The systematization of canon Law is a complex concept referring to the organization of laws, but it does not necessarily imply the continuous improvement of a single system. In fact, several paradigms have succeeded one another throughout the history of canon law, from the medieval model to the 1983 code. The future of the latter depends on its ability to adapt to changes in society and the Church, but it is also necessary to reflect on the respective roles of the legislator, the jurist, and the canonist in its development and interpretation.
