G. Espinosa, Spinoza’s first Venezuelan interpreter - 2025.

A publication released in Argentina in 1932, on the occasion of Spinoza's tercentenary, prompted Gabriel Espinosa to offer a critique of its treatment of Baruch Spinoza’s philosophical thought in the Ethics. This critique, which took the form of a book, is examined here both as a clarification of the understanding of Spinoza’s thought and as an example of intellectual engagement outside the institutional framework of the university. We attempt to situate the two conditions of this critique within a broader context.
