À travers une étude systématique de l’histoire de l’éthique, principalement dans les « Grundlinien einer Kritik der bisherigen Sittenlehre » (1803), Schleiermacher élabore ses propres positions qui visent à valoriser chaque individualité pour son apport particulier et non transférable à un monde éthique commun. Sa critique de l’individualisme eudémonique d’un côté, de l’universalisme limitatif de l’autre, défend une approche éthique où le point de vue historique et individuel peut être relié à une philosophie systématique de l’esprit. System and History in Schleiermacher’s EthicsThrough a systematic consideration of the history of ethics, above all in the “Grundlinien einer Kritik der bisherigen Sittenlehre” (1803), Schleiermacher comes to elaborate his own ethical proposals that aim to value every human individuality for its peculiar and non transferable contribution to an articulated, common ethical world. His criticism of eudemonistic individualism, on one hand, and of limitative universalism, on the other, gives thus support to an ethical approach in which the historical and individual point of view could be coordinated with a general systematic philosophy of mind.
