In this article we discuss the concept of Dissonant Heritage. After presenting a conceptual approach to dissonance, we propose ways to create new mediations for promoting heritage sites linked to ideologies which are contrary to the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. In particular, we analyze the monument dedicated to Vittorio Bottego (1860-1897) in the city of Parma, and the collection of plaster casts produced by the fascist anthropologist Lidio Cipriani (1892-1962), preserved and displayed in the Museum of Natural History at the University of Bologna.
