This article presents the experience of a clinical psychology study conducted with professionals in two palliative care units to better understand substitute decision-making processes. The stakes are all the higher as they involve life and death decisions, such as stopping active treatment. However, when patients are no longer able to decide for themselves, it is the doctor and their team who are entrusted with this ultimate responsibility.
