Let the dead bury their own dead

Let the dead bury their own dead - 2019.

In his article “Postmortem changes, state control, and transmission of the impossible in psychoanalysis,” professor Shingû quotes a famous Zen poem: “The living die and, once dead, every action freely accomplished will be good.” Is this not the exact position of Antigone in Lacan’s analysis in one of his seminars? In contrast, Jesus Christ said to his followers: “Let the dead bury their own dead!” This sentence, usually interpreted as the erasure of death and mourning in anticipation of eternal life, seems to condemn Antigone and most of ancient and non-Christian wisdom. However, could this injunction encourage us to welcome the cumbersome presence of the dead to reside deep within us, instead of confining them to state cemeteries?
