Through the stories and the movie of the writer Hervé Guibert, we will explore the traumatic impact of an HIV diagnosis and the medical exams that were practiced in the 1990s. Our study of the artist’s literary and cinematographic production will allow us to examine the importance of the gaze and aesthetic research into the sick body in order to envisage one’s own death.
