L’homme – qu’il s’agisse du genre Homo ou de sa seule espèce qui demeure sur la biosphère, Homo sapiens – est là récemment et tout à fait par hasard. Comment pourrait-on donc prétendre qu’il est achevé ? Dans cet essai l’auteur entreprend une analyse brève, axée sur l’histoire de la biologie, des circonstances phylogénétiques, ontogénétiques et noologiques qui condamnent l’homme à l’inachèvement et les humains à une incomplétude essentielle. O homem – quer se trate do género Homo, quer da sua única espécie que permanece na biosfera, o Homo sapiens – existe há relativamente pouco tempo e por mero acaso. Como se poderia então esperar que fosse um ser acabado ? Neste ensaio, o autor empreende uma breve análise focada na história da biologia e nas circunstâncias filogenéticas, ontogenéticas e noológicas que condenam o homem ao inacabamento e os humanos a uma incompletude essencial. Humans – whether the Homo genus or Homo sapiens, the only species still living in the biosphere – have only appeared recently and quite by chance. How could they ever be said to have reached a state of achievement? In this essay, basing himself on the history of biology, the author carries out a brief analysis of the phylogenetic, ontogenetic, and noological circumstances condemning humans to incompletion and to essential non-fulfilment.
