As in instructor, the author begins by defining the various concepts of commitment within their work before approaching the praxis, or how life stages have constructed an analysis. Through the prism of a framework—that of civic service—trade unionism is a commitment to satisfactory working conditions. Awareness-raising and emancipation can produce the transformation of individual commitment into collective commitment. Why and how should we act on the world which surrounds us? How can we contribute to a real social transformation?
