Trust in the work of educators is questioned with regard to the educational relationship with young people in foster care. The phenomenon is addressed from a pragmatist perspective of trust in relation to belief and indeterminate action. The way in which educators and young people work together to build confidence, as our experience has taught us, cannot be dictated. This building of trust requires it to be “felt,” a process in which emotions play an integral part.
