This text bears witness to the author’s encounter with Pedro Meca, an educator in specialized prevention with a very atypical professional trajectory, to whom the former pays tribute posthumously. The latter delivered teachings on professional commitment in his field of activity, via his example and his provocative words, reestablishing the human relation at the center of the action and the personal construction of the future social worker at the foundation of his approach. The author takes inspiration from this to reflect on his career and practice in socio-educational institutions.
