Denouncing sexual violence against minors: Coming out of the shadows, but toward what light?

Denouncing sexual violence against minors: Coming out of the shadows, but toward what light? - 2022.
79
The earliest human communities already considered sexual violence to be a attack on a person’s integrity, thus requiring a legal consequence. However it was not so much the illegal seizing of another person’s body that justified a punishment, but rather the materialization of an affront to the political order. As a result, victims were stigmatized and ostracized, but always forced to be silent so as not to disrupt the established order, be it public or intrafamilial. The start of the creation of a protocol to support sexual abuse victims, carried out by a now protective society, only emerged after the Second World War. This goal requires the constant coordination of academic expertise, the empirical knowledge of professionals, and legislative developments, in order to create mechanisms that can meet victims’ needs.
