‪This article presents a methodological reflection on the construction of a database for the quantitative study of Jewish migration from Greece and Turkey to Paris and its suburbs during the interwar period. How can a history of the Jews be written if they cannot be identified in public archives? What is the best methodology for avoiding onomastic categorizations? How can we capture the heterogeneity of religious practice within this population? This article also draws a demographic and occupational portrait based on the cross-referencing of different administrative and religious archival sources.‪
