Although usually characterized by an explosion of information and a very fast series of complex processes, a crisis can also occur over long periods of time (300 years) and require long-term interventions. This article aims to draw lessons from the approach adopted by the Ethos team, which intervened in Byelorussia over a six-year period to improve living conditions in areas affected by the Chernobyl disaster. It will attempt to answer the following questions: How do you motivate an emergency response team sustainably? How do you handle relations with a desperate population? How do you motivate the population to devote time to work groups geared at improving the situation?
