From a comparative point of view, we will explore the Lobi identification process of “children who leave and return,” as well as relatives’ highly ambivalent patterns of behavior, attempting to remove children’s wishes to die by subjecting them to tests that constitute real life-threatening situations, and by awakening in them the desire to remain among the humans who welcome them. We will particularly focus on this concept of “welcome,” taken from numerous works, given that “unwelcome children” are considered more inclined to return to the other world.
