Based on the analysis made by the well-known French linguist Marcel Cohen, which focuses on the use of the French language in the sixties, the two authors of this article seek to gain an understanding of the current changes marking the French language, especially in terms of the relationship between French and English. For the author, this phenomenon does not represent a simple exchange between two cultures but is instead the result of economic globalization, and which involves problems of democracy and cultural alienation. But the French language has significant opportunities for development, provided that the French people discover its true diversity.
