Mohammad Shahrour calls for a contemporary rereading of the Koran in order to solve the problems that the Muslim world is currently facing. According to him, contemporary knowledge has to be the basis for this rereading. Indeed, God created man free and rational and left him the responsibility to adapt His laws, while maintaining the limits that He imposed. Knowledge is therefore one of the prevailing challenges: for, without knowledge, there is no choice, and without choice, there can be no freedom.
