The revolution of January 14, 2011, was triggered in the most undeveloped areas of Tunisia and stemmed inter alia from regional disparities and territorial imbalance. The new political context in postrevolutionary Tunisia has enabled an awareness of regional developmental issues and territorial governance, which explains the importance of regional issues in the new Constitution. Thus, the regional element has become the first level of administrative hierarchy, above the governorate. The regionalization model, as proposed by different studies, is based on the principle of reparation by reorganizing the territory more equitably. This has paved the way for a new territorial governance where governmental institutions no longer have the monopoly on public action, which today emanates from numerous actors as a response to the social project that is being developed.
