Spontaneous pregnancies after infertility: The respective roles played by infertility and by the technique selected in the risks of pregnancies obtained via medically assisted reproduction - 2022.

Studies and publications on the outcome of pregnancies obtained via medically assisted reproduction (MAR) and the fate of children report a slight increase in risks for both mother and child, but almost all of them conclude with the question of the reference population. Singleton pregnancies of ex-infertile women are increasingly viewed as the ideal control group. It is now recognized that spontaneous pregnancies in women with a history of infertility are themselves risky pregnancies for both women and children and should be considered as such by obstetricians. Adverse effects are particularly well demonstrated for certain etiologies of infertility, such as endometriosis or polycystic ovary syndrome.
