For Guy Palmade, the unity of human sciences can be achieved through a group of concepts, each of them preserving the same functional definition and the same connections with other concepts, regardless of the level or the area considered. This does not mean reducing certain phenomena to others of a different nature. Such unity requires a real pluralism of perspectives and it highlights the pivotal areas that elucidate the relativity and the pluri-dimensionality of human phenomena. The issue is to achieve unity, not a unification. The elucidation of human life shows that man is one, both institutionalized and individualized, and that sharp lines cannot be drawn between the two.
