Separation related to the hospitalization of newborn infants and anxiety about their state of health can affect parents' caregiving behavior, which represents the reciprocal parental system to the child's attachment system. The objective of the “digital cord” is to support the creation of the bond by allowing the parents and the family to access some video clips of the newborn recorded at carefully chosen moments in order to help them to bond emotionally with the newborn. Although images cannot replace presence, this tool helps to mobilize the caregiving behavior of absent parents.
