By ‘parasitic logic’ we here mean the possibility of understanding the character of the Nephew’s particular relationship with money, the way it decides his way of life and ethics (or rather his refusal of ethics), as well as a form of unavowed anarchism. The aim of our reflection is to show how and why, through the Nephew’s speech, Diderot develops an economic and political critique of contemporary society.
