The Silence of the “Addict” - 2017.

21

This article aims to highlight the repressive goal covered over by the disavowal and the silence used by alcoholic patients. Alcoholic disavowal will be addressed in its specificities and, in support of Freud’s theoretical point of view, compared with disavowal in perversion on the one hand, and with negation in hysteria on the other, in order to shed light on its own dynamic. Due to the poor quality of repression, negation appears useless in these patients; in this context, disavowal could be understood as an attempt to compensate, in order to find a way to reach a silence.
