The multiplication of the interventions for children with disabilities provided by various professionals, the claims of the parents for the respect of their roles and their rights are only some factors having contributed to the emergence of the concept of support in the field of special education. This article treats different questions, such as: Which kinds of supports do parents of children with disabilities request? Do these supports change during the lifespan of families? How to coordinate these supports? After having defined the concept of supports, the article presents the diverse formal and informal supports considered as useful for the parents during the different stages of family life.
