Normalization and standardization are ongoing in the field of information technology and communications and for their related security. Although they enable the interoperability of systems, they can generate risks to their own security. Through the study of norms and standards of security in the organizational, methodological, technical, and technological domains, we show that their indiscriminate use and application are not the best strategy with which to reach the expected level of security.
