This paper discusses the problems involved in identifying Intelligent Agents (IA) and evaluating their use within French companies while applying this technology to the informational process of strategic intelligence. We show the use of these tools and their professional applications by covering heterogeneous populations. We first define the concepts of competitive intelligence, business intelligence, and strategic intelligence. Second, we define the aim of our study and the methodology guiding this research, basing our study in the area of management information systems (MIS) on two evaluation models: Task-Technology Fit (Goodhue & Thompson 1995), and the Technology Acceptance Model (Davis 1989). Finally, we conclude with a typology of the various profiles of users of this technology by using the classificatory method.
