This paper uses some biographical elements of E. Pichon Rivière’s life to illustrate the link between his life experiences and his scientific writings. This research attempts to describe the three theoretical and clinical pillars of the work of E. Pichon Rivière: psychiatry, family group, and training group. In order to clarify the training approach of the E. Pichon Rivière school, the author introduces a group session, which illustrates the question of transference with the object of knowledge, expanding the concept of transference introduced by A. Béjarano in the framework of the training group in France.
