This article is based on qualitative research conducted in two French medical centers specialized in the treatment of cancer. We examine the use made of unconventional care practices by patients. Through this case, we reflect on the practices of linking at work in oncology, highlighting the active role of patients. The results encourage us to analyze the experience of cancer and the therapeutic itineraries of patients through the lens of empowerment.
