The figures indicate that, among employees in the social and solidarity economy, women are in the majority. However, the greater the level of responsibility, the less women are represented. This raises the question of the motivations of those who work in the social and solidarity economy. Is it the result of “chance”? An assumed choice? A path voluntarily taken? Within the structures they lead, these female entrepreneurs act and react on changing ground. They “run the ship” through a collective dynamic by reconciling the imperatives linked to economic balance in the service of social utility. They seek to implement strategies and rationales of action to stay the course and achieve a goal. What are these strategies and rationales? The adventure is full of ups and downs, but it produces growth. Female entrepreneurs can count on internal and external resources to achieve this growth. They also rely on the skills that they put at the service of the company, and/or that they develop with experience. Here, female entrepreneurs talk about their experiences.
