Obstetrical injustice - 2022.

57

Based on research on obstetrical violence carried out in Europe (France, Italy) and Latin America (Mexico, Guatemala) among migrant, poor and/or racialized women, we propose to put this violence into perspective, with regard to global mechanisms of domination (exile, racism, poverty). The research is situated in the field of intersectionality and reproductive justice studies and focuses on the analytical framework of “obstetrical injustice”, which enables to overcome some of the existing divisions in the category of obstetrical violence by articulating obstetrical violence to other forms of violence experienced by these women during their lives.
