On the basis of Jung’s use of and commentary on the concept of the Tao, the author presents his approach to Lao Tzu’s Tao Te Ching. He compares this text to Jungian theories of the Self, the union of opposites, wholeness, and individuation, and likens the attitude of the psychotherapist to the awareness described by Lao Tzu.
