Based on testimonies published since 1945 and interviews made with authors, this article attempts to capture the changes which affected the miners’ testimonies, in the light of editorial reception. The spaces for receiving texts and the expectations of publishers, which vary over time, highlight the social and political issues of workers’ writing. The different paths leading to publication also provide information about the editorial uses of the testimonies, through the representations which are at work in the paratexts one the one hand, and, on the other hand, through the part played by some key stakeholders of the edition process - intellectuals, writers, journalists – with miners who write.
