Comparing the modes of functioning of two federations which both have the aim of training professionals raises questions about their foundations, the established frameworks, and the processes involved. In particular there is the question of the curbs/restraints and rituals or codes put in place to permit access to the alliance, and of their interpretation. The difficulties of the transition from the inter-associative to the trans-associative are emphasized. The article sets out to raise a number of questions based on observations of these modes of functioning.
