Men under the influence: On some issues among HIV-positive homosexual men engaging in chemsex - 2021.

We attempt to present different reading perspectives for the frequently encountered psychic issues of hiv-positive homosexual men engaging in chemsex. Via the comparative analysis of two case studies, we investigate how such strong and body-centered investments are built and linked with less strong abilities to think and elaborate. Using different multidisciplinary theoretical corpuses ranging from Georges Bataille to Joyce McDougall and Claude Balier, and trying to think beyond addiction and hiv-related issues, we seek a better understanding of these self-destructions that often seem too inevitable and lively not to carry within them some transformative potential.
