Parenthood in Social Organization of Knowledge on Child Neglect in Quebec - 2015.

60

How child neglect is conceptualised in advanced research has a significant impact on the organization of services and professional practices extended to families affected by this issue in Quebec. It is therefore important to look closely at the portraits of the parents that these cutting-edge research papers give us. The present article examines the epistemological, theoretical and methodological structure underlying the production of this type of knowledge based on a qualitative analysis of recent articles published in one of the most important international journals in the field (Child Abuse & Neglect). The results show that such advanced research generates knowledge on child neglect that more or less radically excludes the views of the parents and children directly involved in such situations.
