Digital, towards the End of the Riddle of Sex?

Digital, towards the End of the Riddle of Sex? - 2014.

The omnipresence of over-sexualized and violent images on screens prompts children to use splitting as a privileged mechanism of defense rather than repression. Without minimizing the dangers of self-overexposure, it turns out that teenagers can use the new technologies as a tool of veiling and unveiling of one’s self. This way, they reintroduce an imaginary dimension and experiment a new way of constructing the relation to one’s self and to others. The desire of extimacy (complementary to the desire of intimacy) is central to this relational quest. Eventually, the enigma of identity could replace that of sexual identity.
