An ivory figurine from the collection of René Dussaud, kept in Lausanne - 2015.

The archeological collection of René Dussaud is today kept in the Musée cantonal d’histoire et d’archéologie in Lausanne (Switzerland). Among more than 180 objects, we find a feminine ivory figurine, characterized stylistically by her open eyes, articulated arms (now lost) and a headdress (also lost). We know of a similar figurine in the British Museum and of a smaller figurine from Jerash (Jordan). While the first two have no archaeological context, the last one was found in an Umayyad well. Until today, there have been no specific studies of these figurines. This paper aims to compare the three figurines, providing a basis for further comparisons and studies.
