This essay addresses the establishment of the Black European Women’s Council and explores the political mobilization of Black women in Germany and Austria. Utilising the BEWC as a case study, it argues that this transnational council functions as a type of cross-border network, which builds not only links between politically active African/Black diasporic women in Germany and Austria, and across the continent, but that the BEWC can also be viewed as the continuation of prior political activism by Black female activists in Europe.
