Trade unionism has a history, and its formation - in the sense of the grouping together of workers with the aim of defending professional interests - in the judiciary goes back to the 1920s. It grew after the Second World War, out of a feeling that there was a need to act in solidarity, not only for purposes of protection, but also with a view to winning the right to speak out. It is the lineage of that heritage that is examined here, through the prism of a few noteworthy historical milestones.
