Faced with the many normative injunctions on how to live life, where normal or abnormal behaviors are defined by “techno-psychological” questionnaires, what diversions can be taken to avoid being overwhelmed by mass alienation? The signifier “psy-” urgently needs a new meaning: it needs to be deconstructed to avoid falling prey to normative impostures. Investigation of the various praxis, discourses, fields, and methods associated with “psy-” reveals its political nature. Can psychoanalysis as method, theory, and practice get beyond its own reflexivity?
