During the first lockdown in March 2020 and the resulting paralysis of the performing arts, the Comédie-Française, an emblematic institution of French theatrical heritage, particularly distinguished itself by its ability to innovate and maintain an original cultural offering, crowned by a success that exceeded expectations. Based on a semio-discursive analysis of a corpus consisting of a set of discourses produced by the Comédie-Française on various media designed to promote their channel, “La Comédie continue!” (The Comedy continues!), the aim of this article is to describe and qualify the hybrid communication and media system put in place, and to explore the institutional communication strategies implemented in this unprecedented situation, while examining this system from the angle of public mediation.
