This article proposes that we devote thought to the question of the subjective elaboration of family ties within conditions of hospitalisation. We start out from therapy afforded Clementine, a melancholic young teenager who was rushed into the institutional world following severe anorexia nervosa. Through a clinical study of what she told us, we shall see how the context of care brings out an elaboration of her objectal relationships, encouraging questioning as to her relations with her parents, her sister, or the group. Comparing the path of life and that of care will reveal an analogy as to the mechanisms of repetition and psychological healing.
